Workplace integrations
Enhance your Timebook experience by connecting external apps.
Expand your work with Timebook
In this section of Workplace Admin, you can boost your by integrating it with other apps. We want to give you one platform to manage all your work, and that includes external resources integrated with Timebook.
The following sections describe the available Timebook integrations.
Integrations presented here will impact the entire Workplace as all members can use them.
But Timebook also allows integrations for individual users. For more information, see Integrations
Git integration
Git is one of the most popular version control systems. It's an actively maintained open-source tool that works well on various operating systems. And you can integrate it with Timebook!
The integration between Timebook and Git is made possible by the connecting element we call the "friendly ID" - a unique number attached to each Timebook . By including the friendly ID in commit messages, you can directly link your code changes to specific Work Items in Timebook.
You can integrate with Git using different services.
When you open the [Git] tab in the [Integrations] section, you must first select the provider you want to integrate with.
Once you integrate Timebook with Git using one of the methods above, you will notice that:
We will automatically turn on Bitbucket or GitHub webhooks for Git commits and pull requests. You can turn them off with the dedicated toggle.
Timebook Work Item card will show the dedicated [Git] field where you can find all the Git information relevant to a given Work Item.
The [Git] field on a Work Item card will only be visible if you enable the Git system field for the item type to which your Work Item belongs.
You can manage fields for selected Work Item types using our Item library
Slack integration
Slack is a messaging platform designed for teams and businesses to communicate and collaborate in real-time. It offers channels for organized discussions, direct messaging, and integrations with various tools to streamline workflows.
The integration with Slack is beneficial for Timebook Workplace members both on the individual and Team level:
You can push your personal Timebook notifications to Slack after enabling the integration in the [Preferences] module in Timebook.
Your Team can convert messages from an integrated Slack channel into Tickets, which will appear directly in the Team's Inbox in Timebook. Additionally, replies to these Slack messages will show as comments to their corresponding Tickets.
Before you can enable the features above for yourself or your Team, the Timebook-Slack integration must be set up for the entire Workplace. See below to learn more about it.
To integrate a Timebook Workplace with Slack:
Go to the [Integrations] section in the Workplace Admin and open the [Slack] tab.
Use the toggle at the top to [Add Slack workspace URL].
Enter the URL address of your Slack workspace in the space provided and confirm by pressing [Integrate].
Press the [Add Timebook to Slack] button and follow the on-screen instructions on the Slack website.
The Timebook-Slack integration is now complete. The Timebook companion app is added to the Slack workspace you selected.
