Individual Roadmaps have drawers that let you modify basic properties and change the scope of Projects included in the Roadmap. You can also view and manage Work Items of all Projects in scope.

What are Roadmaps?

In Timebook, Roadmaps are essential tools for visualizing . The dedicated module allows you to create and manage Roadmaps that provide a clear overview of the actual work being done. With flexible visualization options, you can present Projects in the most effective way—whether it's a high-level summary or a more detailed view.

With Roadmaps, you can also focus on the smallest of details, as you get an overview of all the from all the Projects you select for a given Roadmap. This allows you to effectively analyze progress, dependencies, and timelines. By using different layouts for your Roadmaps, you can clearly communicate key information, making collaboration easier and planning more effective.

Timebook Roadmaps have a dedicated module at the , allowing you to visualize multiple Projects in one place, making it easier to track progress and coordinate efforts across teams.

Managing Roadmaps in the dedicated module

The [Roadmaps] module, accessible directly from the Navigator, contains a complete list of all Roadmaps in your Timebook Workplace. Each Roadmap is displayed as a card highlighting key properties, such as the number of Projects included, date range, and owner. Click on a Roadmap to view its details and the list of Work Items related to the Projects included.

As a CEO, you can use Roadmaps for a strategic overview of the company's direction, helping you understand how different Projects contribute to the overall business objectives. Roadmaps will help you assess progress and compare timelines.

As a Project Manager, you can use Roadmaps for a detailed breakdown of all the Work Items involved in your Projects, making it easier to coordinate tasks, manage timelines, and track dependencies.

The [Roadmaps] module includes the [Manage view] section that lets you customize how Roadmaps are displayed. You can choose , such as List or Timeline, to best suit your needs. Filters are also available to narrow down the Roadmaps shown, for example, by date range or status. Additionally, you can save these customized views either as public, for all members to access, or as private, for your personal use.

To compare and track Projects in a more visual way, you should consider using the [Timeline] layout that presents selected Projects as chronological lines across a specified period.

You can create Roadmaps for your entire Timebook Workplace using the dedicated module described above.

To create a Roadmap:

Roadmap cards

Each Roadmap card in Timebook has two areas of focus:

  • The main area displays the contents of one of the tabs you can select at the top, next to the Roadmap's name. See below for more information on available tabs.

  • You can also expand the Roadmap's drawer using the dedicated button in the top-right corner. The drawer will occupy the right side of the screen, showing the Roadmap's basic properties, such as the date range, owner, and the number of linked Projects. See below for more information on the drawer's contents.

In the top-right corner of the card, you have two additional options to keep your Roadmap accessible:

  • [Add to Bookmarks] saves the Roadmap for future reference. You can find it by opening the [Bookmarks] module in the Navigator.

  • [Pin to Navigator] adds the Roadmap to the [Pinned items] area of the Navigator. You can quickly jump to the pinned Roadmap using the menu on the left, no matter where you are in Timebook.

We have a dedicated article on how to use pins and bookmarks to keep your important objects always within easy reach.

For more information, see Bookmarks & pins*

Roadmap cards: tabs

Each Roadmap has three tabs located at the top, next to the Roadmap's name:

The [Work] tab in a Roadmap

This tab is where you manage all Work Items from the Projects included in your Roadmap. You can open any Work Item to view or edit its details.

You can also use the [Manage view] button to apply different layouts or filters and view your the work from various perspectives. We have dedicated articles that explain how to manage data views and layouts in several Timebook modules, including this one. For more information, see Layouts & views*

The [Summary] tab in a Roadmap

You can use this tab to add text, images, and references to provide additional Roadmap information. Think of this tab as a canvas for describing and showcasing your Roadmap. The [Summary] tab functions like a page in Timebook Documents. For more details on working with page content, see Blocks*

The [Updates] tab in a Roadmap

This tab is a collaborative space where anyone can share information, provide feedback, and post important news about the Roadmap. It serves as a message board, allowing everyone involved to stay updated. You can create new posts, reply to existing ones, add reactions, and mention specific Team members using the @ key.

The tabs presented above are not exclusive to Roadmap cards.

Cards of other object types in Timebook, such as Initiatives or Projects, have nearly identical designs.

Roadmap cards: drawer

The main area primarily helps you manage Work Items within a Roadmap, while the drawer allows you to define properties and define which Projects to include. You can open the drawer using the button in the top-right corner of the Roadmap card and collapse it again when you want to focus more on the work itself.

In the [Properties] section, you can assign the Roadmap's owner and set a date range, so that only Work Items scheduled within this period are displayed. You can also use the [Projects] field here to define which of them to include in your Roadmap. All Projects in your Timebook Workplace are available in the dropdown, and you can include or exclude them using the respective checkboxes.
