Work Items (in Teams)

View and manage all Team Work Items in one place.

Work Items at the Team level

You probably divide every project into smaller units of work for easier management. In Timebook, we call these units Work Items—activities you must complete as part of a bigger process.

Tasks, assignments, stories—you name it. In Timebook, you can manage them all using Work Items, which help you describe work and assign status and priority to it.

And the [Work Items] tab at the Team level is where you can create and manage all items representing your Team's planned or completed work.

This tab gives you a combined view of all Work Items in a Team.

But we also have an article that explains the actual Work Item concept and how to apply it in Timebook. For more information, see Work Item

Work Items tab features

The primary function of this tab is to show you the overview of all Work Items across your Team. We give you all work-related data, and you can do the following:

  • Create a new Work Item or view details of the existing ones.

  • Use layouts to change the presentation of the data.

  • Use filters to decide how much data you want to see.

  • Use different grouping options to organize the data.

  • Save custom views for later use.

We have dedicated articles that explain how to manage data views and layouts in several Timebook modules, including this one.

For more information, see Layouts & views

[Backlog] is the only permanent data view in this tab. It is just above the list of your Work Items.

The [Backlog] view shows all the uncompleted Work Items not planned for a . This means you can find all the unplanned and unfinished work from the entire Team in one place. With [Backlog], you can plan and track work with less effort.

Create a Work Item

You can create Work Items in this tab and reuse them across your Team.

To create a Work Item:

  1. Press the [+] button at the top of the list of Work Items. The placement of this button might be different depending on the layout you applied to the data.

  2. Give your new Work Item a meaningful name.

  3. Open the newly created Work Item to start editing its details. For detailed information on available settings, see Work Item

After you create a Work Item, you can use its [Linked items] section to connect it to other existing Timebook items.

This way, you can easily align your work with the work of others.
